Waterford IT celebrated the birthday of its oldest student in the loveliest way
YOU’RE NEVER TOO old to follow your dream, as this 79-year-old student at Waterford Institute of Technology proves.
Tom Boyle, a father of seven from Co Wexford, is currently studying Law at WIT – he enrolled this September after spending over 20 years working as a taxi driver.
When he turned 79 earlier this week, lecturer Deirdre Adams decided to throw him a party with a cake and a huge chorus of Happy Birthday from his fellow students:

“I’m a bit emotional, the kindness is overwhelming. From the first day, everyone has been so welcoming,” Tom said of the surprise.
His wife of 50 years, Phyllis, told WIT that he had wanted to return to education for quite some time:
